The Shih Tzu breed is a very popular small dog breed. They weigh in at just between nine and sixteen pounds and only stand at up to eleven inches tall. They can come in a wide variety of different colors and are extremely cute. This breed of dog is well known for being affectionate towards children. These dogs were bred to live out their day in a royal palace, so if you are looking for a dog for your apartment, this is the dog for you. Most Shih Tzus are content with being a lap dog.

The Shi Tzu was created by the Chinese. When you own one, you are owning a piece of Chinese history. The dog was bred by imperial breeders for the Chinese emperor. The name Shih Tzu means lion dog. It is thought that the dog comes from a cross between Pekingese and the Lhaso Apso.

This breed of dogs has been bred for hundreds of years to serve the royal family. They were extremely pampered, and the emperors would give lavish gifts to breeders who made the friendliest dogs.

The breed was not known to the general public until the 1930s. Breeders in the Peking area and England continued to breed these dogs, making one of the most popular choices out there.

If you are looking for a happy and perky dog, look no further than the Shih Tzu. They are well known to be extremely friendly and full of energy. They get along with other pets and people of all ages. They do not chew, but they can indulge in digging from time to time. As long as they have people, though, they tend to be content and not cause any issues.

Grooming is the one big care when it comes to this breed. Many people keep their hair cut short so that it is easy to care for. If you plan on letting your dog’s hair grow long, you will need to be prepared for a lot of grooming. You will need to make sure that you brush their hair daily and have weekly baths.

If you are planning on getting a Shih Tzu, you will need to give them a lot of attention every day as they thrive on it. They often enjoy learning tricks and being the center of attention. Never get this breed of dog and think that it will be a good guard dog because they would rather get a good petting than guard anything.
